Rosso del veronese IGT

TASTING NOTES
Look: deep ruby red.
Nose: berry fruit, preserves and vanilla.
Palate: rich, full-bodied, packed with baked fruit, and hints of cocoa and vanilla on the finish.
Samas by Agricola Punica
APPELLATION
IGT Isola dei Nuraghi
$42 and $12 by the Glass
DESCRIPTION
white wine made from selected Vermentino and Chardonnay grapes, vinified with cryo-maceration techniques to preserve the wine from oxidation. Harvesting done by hand at dawn to maintain the characteristic varietal notes of these grapes, mostly coming from vineyards with sandy soil.
GRAPE COMPOSITION
80% Vermentino – 20% Chardonnay
TASTING NOTES
Vivid yellow straw colour with soft greenish hints, the typical bouquet of tropical fruit and citrus notes with a distinguish Mediterranean flavour (sage fragrancy).
On the palate this wine is silky and well balanced by a moderate alcohol content (12,5%), good salinity and freshness notes. To be stored at medium-low temperatures on the range of 15-17 °C and to be served a bit cooler (around 12-13 °C). It matches very well all fish-made dishes, any white meat or it can be simply savoured as aperitif.
Wine Facts: Origins of Wine
We recently found out the origin of wine according to legend, which may be as interesting to you as it was to us!
According to legend, the discovery of wine is the story of Jamsheed a semi-mythical Persian king, who may have been Noah. A woman of his harem tried to take her life with fermented grapes, which were thought to be poisonous. Wine was discovered when she found herself rejuvenated and lively.
We don’t know the details of why she tried to take her own life, but we are all certainly thankful for her discovery! Keep a lookout for future wine facts posted on our blog, and of course learn more about our wines with every visit to the Trattoria!
